Alliances to launch all-water services via the Panama Canal

The Grand Alliance and the New World Alliance will both launch new all-water transpacific services next month from Asia to the US East Coast via the Panama Canal.
The Grand Alliance will reconfigure its East Coast South and East Coast North services from the middle of next month.
The South China East Coast Express will call at Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, New York, Norfolk and Savannah. The North and Central China East Coast Express will call at Pusan, Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, New York, Norfolk and Savannah.
Each service loop will deploy eight ships with capacities ranging between 3,500 and 4,400 TEUs. Transit time from Hong Kong to New York and Shanghai to New York will be 23 days and 21 days respectively.
The New World Alliance in collaboration with French line CMA CGM will launch a new all-water service on June 4. The service will deploy eight vessels, ranging from 3,500-3,800 TEUs, with three operated by Hyundai Merchant Marine, two by MOL, one by APL, and two by CMA CGM.
The port rotation will be Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Manzanillo in Panama, Savannah, New York, Norfolk, Ningbo. Transit times from Shanghai to Savannah will be 25 days and to New York 27 days while from Ningbo to Savannah it will be 27 days and to New York 29 days.
