Singapore's Keppel FELS Ltd. has signed a contract to build an oil drilling rig worth US$191 million (euro142 million) for PetroVietnam Drilling Investment Corp., a company executive said Tuesday.
"Construction of the rig is expected to be completed for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2009,'' said Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, an executive with Keppel's Representative Office in Vietnam.
"This is the second drilling rig Keppel to build for PetroVietnam Drilling,'' she said.
Keppel FELS, which is an unit of Keppel Corp., completed its first drilling rig valued at US$11 million for PetroVietnam Drilling in March 2007, she added.
Keppel said in a statement that the contract isn't expected to have material impact on its earnings for the financial year ending Dec. 31, 2007.
