In January-September of the current year East Siberia Railway loaded over 63.5 thou containers including about 40.2 thou of high-capacity containers, ESRW’s PR service reported. Year-on-year growth is 8.6%. Major growth was demonstrated by the North Baikal Subdivision – it loaded 2.6 thou containers (+39.3% against plan). From the beginning of 2006 over 886.6 thou tons of cargo were transported in containers (+20.8% against year-on-year result). In September ESRW loaded 7.9 thou containers (+13.8% against year-on-year result). Major part of these cargoes was carried in high-capacity containers – 91.3%. High-capacity container transportation enables the companies to decrease transportation costs considerably, so the volume of high-capacity container transportation is growing permanently. This type of transportation makes 63.3% of all cargo transported by ESRW from the beginning of 2006.
