The fire at Mazeikiu Nafta refinery (Lithuania) has been brought under control
The fire at Mazeikiu Nafta refinery (Lithuania) has been brought under control. According to RIA Novosti referring to local media, no one was hurt. The fire broke out at Mazeikiu Nafta refinery on October 12 resulting in failure of vacuum column. The fire was brought under complete control by the mourning October 13. About 25 fire vehicles participated. Prime-minister, Gediminas Kirkilas, announced at the briefing held October 12, that according to preliminary estimations, the fire loss makes several million LTL. The prime-minister told about government committee formed for investigation of what had cause the fire. The committee is headed by Raimondas Shukis, Minister of the Interior. General Prosecutor’s Office has started prejudicial inquiry. According to preliminary version the fire was caused by oil spill. As Lithuania’s radio announced, the refinery continues its operation though in limited mode.
