Soyuztranslink launches China rail service to Central Asia, CIS
Multimodal freight forwarder Soyuztranslink (STL), the official partner of Kazakstan Railways, has launched a comprehensive range of rail freight services from China to The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Central Asia.
The decision to offer such rail services follows a 400 per cent increase in trade between China and Kazakhstan in the last four years.
A company statement pointed out that the booming trade between China and Kazakhstan, estimated at US$10 billion this year, resulted in a growing demand for time definite rail, road and air services between the two countries.
STL now provides logistics management, freight and transport services from Shanghai to Samara and Beijing to Baku. The company also provides gateway services to all major trading commercial centres via the border station of Alashankou, and works closely with Russian Railways.
"The growth in trade between China and Kazakhstan and also other CIS countries has increased demand for time definite logistics and freight services. We have decades of experience in delivering door-to-door services for rail, road and air from the West to CIS and Central Asia, now we can offer those same service to our customers in China," said Elena Yusupova, business development director for STL.
"With trade turnover between China and Kazakhstan forecast to grow to US$30 billion by 2010 we see our business growing significantly in the next four years," she added.
