K' Line to open training centre in the Philippines
Japan's "K" Line recently held a groundbreaking ceremony at a site in Pasay City, Philippines, where a training centre is to be built based on the "K" Line Maritime Academy (KLMA) concept.
The company stated that construction of the maritime institute is part of its ship management plan to maintain safety and quality.
One aspect of this plan is to build a new training centre in the Philippines, which is set for completion at the end of 2007.
The new training centre will accept a total of 10,000 trainees a year, has accommodations for 110 people, a dining room and clinic. An actual-sized main engine in the workshop and a full-mission engine simulator will also be set up to help upgrade the skills of marine engineers.
