Russia’s OPK presents a project of a shipyard to build vessels with 300,000 tonnes in displacement

United Industrial Corporation (OPK) has developed a project for construction of a shipyard to build vessels with up to 300,000 tonnes in displacement. According to IA REGNUM, the project of a world class shipyard has been presented today at the 8th International Conference and Exhibition for Oil and Gas Resources Development of the Russian Arctic and CIS Continental Shelf RAO/CIS Offshore. Such vessels are to be deployed for development of Arctic shelf. The project’s co-investor is Vneshtorgbank.

OPK’s shipbuilding assets comprise shipbuilding plant Severnaya Verf, Baltiysky Zavod and Central Design Bureau Iceberg. According to the conception of OPK’s shipbuilding assets restructuring, the facilities of Baltiysky Zavod are to be transferred to Severnaya Verf, which is to serve as a base for a compact yard.

The organizers of RAO/CIS Offshore are RF Ministry of Natural Resources, Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency, Federal Energy Agency, Gazprom, LUKOIL, Sevmorneftegaz, Research Institute of Natural Gases and Gas Technologies (VNIIGaz) and Restec Exhibition Company. The Organizing Committee of RAO/CIS Offshore is headed by Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Yuri Trutnev, Governor of St.Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of Gazprom BOD Alexei Miller, President of Lukoil Oil Company Vagit Alekperov, President of Rosneft Oil Company Sergei Bogdanchikov.
