In January-August 2007, Vladivostok Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 2.875.4 million tonnes (70% of the year plan), the company reports according to REGNUM news agency. In the reported period, export amounted to 1.109.9 million tonnes, import – 1.089.1 million tonnes. In the 8-month period the company handled 2,118 vessels and 35,840 wagons. Average daily throughput was 11,832.9 tonnes with handling 147.49 wagons. In August the company handled 385,000 tonnes of cargo (+18.6%, year-on-year).
According to the company’s press center, VCS increased handling of export cargo owing to higher shipment of ferrous metal to the states of South-Eastern Asia.
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 27%, year-on-year. Handling of coastal trade cargo also grew owing to higher shipment of containers and general cargo (+10%, year-on-year).
