The Navaga tug-vessel launched at Leningrad Shipyard Pella

The azimuth-type ship-handling tug named Navaga has been launched today at Leningrad Shipyard Pella OJSC (Leningrad Region), press center of  Ust-Luga Company told PortNews on Wednesday.  The vessel’s capacity is 3200 h.p., value - 130 million rubles. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the end of November. Launching the Beluga vessel – the other azimuth tug of Ust-Luga Company took place on August 24, 2006. Both tug vessels are supposed to provide all-the-year-round assistance to the vessels calling in the port of Ust-Luga. According to the company’s press center, the number of tug-vessels is to be increased as the number of calls increases. The company plans to acquire 1600 - 1800 h.p. tugs and 4000-5000 h.p. tugs for handling large-capacity vessels. By 2011-2012 when Ust-Luga port is completely developed, the fleet of azimuth-type tugs should include 6-7 vessels. Internal fleet is an essential element of the port which means that port’s capacities are operating, the company’s press center said - when the tugs are put into operation we feel getting closer to the project implementation.

 

Ust-Luga Company was founded in 1992. It is the customer-developer of the sea trade port of Ust-Luga. Under contract with the RF Ministry of Transport the Company is entitled to take independent decisions as regards financing, designing, construction and maintenance of the sea trade port of Ust-Luga with attraction of state and private investments. The larges shareholders of the company are Leningrad Region government (27.3% of shares), United Financial and Industrial Company OJSC (21.9%), Cyprus companies Gramelinko Ltd. (17.5%) and Interalonso Holding Ltd. (15%).
