Investments of Arkhangelsk Seaport into offshore cross posts totals 7 mln rubles in 2006
Re-equipment of offshore cross posts needs investments from Administration of Arkhangelsk Seaport (ASP). Additional support is necessary for the company to carry out all the measures required by the Code of vessels and port structures safety. This information has been provided by Andrei Sdobnikov, assistant to ASP's Director General, at the meeting of the council on marine activities under regional administration, IA REGNUM reports. According to Sdobnikov, the company spent over 7 million rubles in 2006 for re-equipment of offshore cross posts with new control and video surveillance devices. Initially this resource was intended to be spent for purchase of new cargo handling equipment for the Economy port of Arkhangelsk. The Law on national boundary says re-equipment of cross posts should be financed by federal budget. According to Sdobnikov, three bodies operate at the territory of 12 cross posts of the port: Transport Ministry, Customs Committee and Border Guard. As of today, it is not still determined which of the bodies is to be financed by federal budget. The members of the council have decided to consult Marine board under RF Government having determined the sum necessary for the modernization project at the offshore cross posts of Arkhangelsk seaport.
