Aker Yards sees good third quarter
Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards has reported an EBITDA of NOK 304m for the third quarter of 2006, an increase of 7.8 percent compared with the third quarter of 2005. Problems with building work on three ro-ro container vessels adversely hit the company's results, as did low capacity utilization in France. Order intake in the third quarter was NOK 20bn, giving an order backlog of NOK 77 .5bn at the end of the quarter, comprising 150 vessels.
Aker Yards had revenues of NOK 6.5bn in the third quarter of 2006, an increase of 54 percent on last year. The order backlog increased by NOK 17bn from the previous quarter, with the order for two cruise vessels for NCL making up the bulk of this value.
