The Tavricheski Bridge tanker has been delivered by Admiralty Shipyards to Sovcomflot

The acceptance of the Tavricheski Bridge tanker built by Admiralty Shipyards FSUE for Sovcomflot OJSC has taken place today, PortNews IAA reporter informs. The acceptance certificate has been signed by Vladimir Alexandrov, Director General of Admiralty shipyards FSUE and Igor Borisenko, first deputy to Director General of Sovcomflot OJSC. The Tavricheski Bridge tanker is the sixth vessel in the series of product carriers ordered by Sovcomflot OJSC to Admiralty Shipyards FSUE. All the vessels of the series are called as famous bridges the names of which begin from latin letter “T”.

The vessel is built to conform double classification of Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping and Lloyd Register, including ice class ЛУ 6 (1А Super according to international classification). The vessel is equipped with two Azipod-type steerable propellers (360-degree turning electric propeller-rudder system), dynamic positioning system, helicopter spot and Arctic version prow cargo reception system.

Admiralty Shipyards FSUE is the oldest Russia’s shipyard founded by Peter I on November 5, 1704. Modern Shipyards specialize in design, production and modernization of civil and naval vessels of various types. Over 2.6 thou ships and vessels have been built by the companies forming Admiralty Shipyards during three centuries of their existence.

Sovcomflot OJSC is the largest Russian shipping company with unique experience in operating ice class vessels under ice conditions, including that of the Baltic and White Seas. In late 2005 the company took ice class Aframax vessels – the Yury Senkevich and the Victor Konetsky tankers for oil transportation under Sakhalin-1 project. The company plans to increase transportation from Russian ice regions to 30% of the company’s total transport services.
Sovcomflot and Admiralty Shipyards have long ago established mutually-beneficial cooperation. In March 2006 Sovcomflot and Admiralty Shipyards signed the contracts for the seventh and the eighth product tankers of the same series once ordered by Sovcomflot to Admiralty Shipyards.
