OMZ to build warehouse terminal in Ekaterinburg
OMZ-Uralmash has started implementation of the project on construction of a modern warehouse terminal on the basis of warehousing facilities of Uralmashzavod (business-unit of OMZ-Uralmash division). The terminal is planned to serve not only OMZ companies but other customers in Ekaterinburg as well. OMZ press center reports that the project is to be finalized in May 2007. Currently transport department of Uralmashzavod provides services on acceptance, dispatch and reconsignment of railway cars and containers, handling and storage of cargo and equipment, customs clearance, monitoring of cargo dislocation in Russia and CIS as well as other services according to the customers’ requirements. From 2007 the customers will be provided with a full range of logistics services so any company of Ekaterinburg will get the opportunity to delegate this function to the transport department of Uralmashzavod.
Warehouse facilities of Uralmashzavod occupy over 80 thou м2. They include covered and open warehouses with railway and motorway access. There is a fleet of wagons and diesel-locomotive shunters. Delivery of outsized cargo, containers, heavy wheal and track machines, rolled metal, timber and timber products is carried out from Nakhodka, Vladivostok and Zabaikalsk to the Baltic ports and Atlantic coast of Western Europe.
