Bharati Shipyard is all set to construct a greenfield modern shipyard at Usgaon near the Dabhol port in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district, industry source said.
The yard would have the capacity to build vessels up to 1,00,000 DWT and will be fully operational in next two years, the source added.
Majority of the machineries and equipment, including the floating dock, will be of Swan Hunter Shipyard. The company had acquired all the shipyard machinery and equipments of Swan Hunter Shipyard last year.
The source said Swan Hunter would provide good synergies, as they are capable of building vessels up to 2,50,000 DWT.
With the increased shipbuilding capacity, the new shipyard would help boost allied industries, which are also on a higher growth phase and create job opportunities for more than 3,000 people, he added.
