Szekeres said the first test train, carrying 12 containers of goods, left China on January 9 and will arrive in Hungary some time after January 20. Depending on the success of the run, trains from China could start arriving once a week from February and five times a week from the summer, bringing the station to full capacity. As many as 400 containers from could pass through the station a week from the summer. The station has capacity to store as many as 1,000 containers.
Between 5,800 and 7,900 containers a year arrive in Zahony. From 2009, as many as 20,000 containers from China could pass through the station annually.
