In 2007, stevedoring company of Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC handled 11.989 million tonnes of cargo, the Group’s press center reports. Despite the strikes of the workers of First, Second and Forth stevedoring companies held in the last decade of the year, the Group’s throughput in January-December grew by 1.3%, year-on-year. The company attributes the growth mainly to prompt activities of the management on prevention of possible negative consequences of the strike as well as to improvement of handling technologies.
In the reported period, First Stevedoring Company handled 5.362 million tonnes of cargo (96% of the throughput of 2006); Second Stevedoring Company - 2.013 million tonnes (+0.5%, year-on-year); Third Stevedoring Company decreased its throughput by 13.3%, year-on-year, to 398,000 tonnes (the decrease was caused by the change of specialization and construction of an automobile terminal), Forth Stevedoring Company - 4.215 million tonnes of cargo (+12.4 %). In the reported period the Group’s companies handled 7.355 million tonnes of general cargo and 4.586 million tonnes of dry bulk including loose bulk cargo.
In 2007, GC Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC accounted for 20.1% of total throughput of Big port of St. Petersburg.
