Throughput of the port of Kotka up 10.2% in 2007 to 10.5 million tonnes

In 2007, the port of Kotka (Finland) increased its throughput by 10.2%, year-on-year, to 10.5 million tonnes, the port’s press center reports according to RZD-Partner. The volume of import cargo handled by the port grew by 30.8%, year-on-year, to 2,899,296 tonnes, while export fell by 7.5% to 4,712,847 tonnes. In the reported period, the port handled 695,983 tonnes of exported transit cargo (+18.2%, year-on-year) and 1,970,349 tonnes of import transit cargo (+42.6%, year-on-year). The port’s container throughput totaled 570,880 TEU (+23.6%).
