Yemen and the World Bank (WB) discussed here on Saturday the government's plan to establish a new seaport with special quays for fishermen's boats and others for tourist groups in Mukalla city of Hadramout governorate.
During the a meeting gathered Transport Minister Khalid al-Wazir and the head of the WB's Team of Ports Cities Development Program's 2nd Phase Sameh Wahba, the two officials asserted the importance of locating a suitable site for the new seaport and studying the technical and geometric characteristics to develop Khalf Seaport in Mukalla to be altered to a tourist fishery seaport after establishing the new seaport in the 2nd phase.
The minister briefed the WB's team on the ministry trends to develop the various transport sectors in the country to underpin the national economy fields, stressing on the necessity of enhancing means of cooperation with World Bank in this regard.
