At the TSCF Steering Committee and working groups meetings RS will present its latest scientific research on safe tanker operation in severe climate.
RS has already cooperated with TSCF. In 2007 RS contributed to a report for a working meeting on the development of Arctic double acting shuttle tankers for the Prirazlomnoye field.
"Tanker safety issues become more urgent due to the development of offshore oil-gas fields and rapid growth of hydrocarbons oversea transportation", said Nikolay A. Reshetov, RS Director General. "Safety at sea and pollution prevention are the main tasks for the Arctic region with its severe climate and ice impact upon ships. RS holds the leading position in providing failure-free operation of ice ships. Now the TSCF members have an opportunity to use the 100-year RS experience of surveying icebreakers and ice ships".
The TSCF was founded in 1983 with a view to share experience on structural aspects of tankers. At the moment there are 27 members besides RS: the leading classification societies, tanker operators and oil companies.
