Russian Railways is poised to resume talks on the potential acquisition of a stake in Germany's Deutsche Bahn, the Russian company's President Vladimir Yakunin told a briefing today according to RBC. However, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, who also participated in the briefing, noted that it was too early to talk about striking the deal.
The German government is planning to sell a 24.9-percent stake in Deutsche Bahn's passenger and cargo transportation departments to large private investors. The price of the stake has been estimated at some EUR 6bn. Meanwhile, Germany's railway infrastructure, including rails and stations, will remain under the government's full control.
