The construction of toll roads would begin in Russia in the second quarter of 2010, said Igor Levitin, Transport Minister in his interview with Vesti television channel.
"We are holding a tender for construction of section of the road, the minister is quoted as saying, at the announcement of the tender results wins the participant who offers a lower fee for using the road. " The charge will be established on a competitive basis, Mr. Levitin added.
He said the toll road would cost 1.5 rubles. per km. Several factors will be influencing the charge, like the territory, the road complexity and the class of vehicle. "Heavy laden trucks will pay more", said the head of the ministry.
It was clearly put, Mr. Levitin highlighted, in the law which had been passed by the Parliament, that all toll road links should have an alternative free roads. "And we are holding that legal norm", -summed up Mr. Levitin.
