Mainland Cepa imports from Macau set record

Macau exported a record CNY1.8 million (US$228,687) worth of goods in October to China under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, Cepa, through the southern mainland city of Guangdong, the state media reported.Quoting statistics from the Zhuhai Gongbei customs authority, Xinhua News Agency said that between January and October, China imported a total of CNY6.49 million worth of goods from the former Portuguese enclave, a year-on-year increase of 25.6 per cent.
Xinhua said that the tariff reductions and exemptions under the Cepa scheme during the period amounted to CNY930,000, a staggering rise of 88.3 per cent over the same period last year. The preferential terms under Cepa cover products including chemicals, plastics, machines, textiles and garments.
