Oil spill control workshop to be held in St. Petersburg, April 15-16

State Marine Academy of Adm. Makarov (St. Petersburg) jointly with the Federal Service for Transport Supervision (RosTransNadzor) and the Northwest Regional Emergency Center will conduct from April 15 through 16 this year a scientific workshop on regulatory support, planning, organization and preparedness for emergency and rescue response to oil and oil products spills, PortNews IAA reports citing the event press office.

The seminar agenda includes a wide range of issues related to environmental protection and regulatory activities of emergency and rescue units (ERU) and emergency planning.

The seminar main themes will be the problems of validating professional and non-ERU rescue teams, oil spill response plans and complexity in their design and coordination, as well as current status and trends of technology development for oil spill response.

Representatives of RosTransNadzor, RosMorRechFlot, territorial administrations of GosMorRechNadzor, Northwest Regional Emergency Center, GosMorSpasSluzhba, Management of RosPrirodNadzor in the Leningrad region, Russian Association of Marine and River Bunker, the seaports authorities, insurance companies, ERU equipment manufacturers, rescue groups, educational institutions and training centers of maritime and river transport were invited to participate and deliver reports at the seminar

During the seminar the equipment for oil spill response, personal protective equipment and information materials about the services of companies working in the field of environmental protection will be demonstrated.
