Cosco to build two new 35,000 tonnes bulk carriers

Argus reported that Chinese shipowner and shipbuilder Cosco has secured contracts to build two new 35,000 tonnes bulk carriers at its Guangdong shipyard in south China.
The orders are the fourth the Singapore listed Cosco has received for new bulk carriers this week and the sixth this month. The latest orders are worth a combined USD 48 million with the vessels to be delivered to unnamed Asian owners in June 2012 and September 2012.
Cosco earlier this week said it had received orders to build two 57,000 tonnes bulkers for an Asian owner. These vessels will be delivered in March 2012 and September 2012. The company last week said it had received an order for two 98,000 tonnes bulk carriers from a Hong Kong shipowner for delivery in November 2011 and January 2012 costing USD 70 million.
