For the last two years the passenger Port of St. Petersburg Marine Façade (from September 10, 2008 to September 10, 2010) has transported more than 600,000 passengers - a major part of all tourist arriving in St. Petersburg by sea transport. For 164 days of this year’s navigation the port has handled 46 vessels (214 calls, over 350,000 tourists), 22 cruise operators, the MC Marine Facade JSC statement said. Marine Façade Company implements the passenger port project.
The company officials said that the construction of the port began in 2006. In 2008 the company launched the project first phase (1st cruise terminal). In September 2008 an Italian-flagged ship Costa Mediterranea delivered its first passengers. There are currently three terminals operating at the port. Construction of the port facilities is carried out ahead of scheduled time. Completion of 7 marine ferry terminals and the coastal infrastructure is scheduled for 2011.
