National Container Company (NCC) started construction of a container terminal at Ust-Luga port in April 2007. After completion of the new terminal of capacity of 3 million tons of TEUs a year will become the largest container terminal in Russia, CIS and the Baltic. The terminal area covers the area of 140 hectares, its storage capacity will be 78,700 TEUs a year. The Ust-Luga terminal project is to be accomplished in three consecutive phases. The second phase is scheduled to be completed in 2014, the 3rd one - in 2019.
Construction of the terminal for handling of liquefied petroleum gas at the port of Ust-Luga has been carried out by SIBUR company since July 2010. Projected annual throughput of LPG terminal is reported to be 4 million tons, including: LPG - 1.5 million tons a year (propane, butane), light petroleum products - 2.5 million tons a year (SNG, naphtha, gasoline). The liquid cargo will be hauled by railroads in 83 rail 83 tanks (of length 12,02 m). Draining products will run on separate drain rail trestles with pump equipment. Construction of the terminal began in July 2010.
