Tianjin Port Group to see cargo throughput hit 400 mln tons

Tianjin Port Group, the largest port operator in North China, is likely to see its cargo throughput reach 400 million metric tons this year, said Yu Rumin, chairman of the port operator Yu said that the group's container throughput will achieve the target of 10 million twenty-foot equivalent units this year.
In the first seven months of this year, the company's cargo throughput was 230 million metric tons and its container throughput exceeded 5.6 million TEUs.
In 2009, Tianjin Port Group's cargo throughput rose 6.7% year on year to 380 million metric tons despite the global financial crisis, ranking fifth in the world. The company's container volume was 8.7 million TEUs last year, up 2.4% from the previous year.
