Each night, seven or eight semi-trailer trucks leave the PSA Peugeot Citroën central warehouse at Vesoul in France, and drive to Braine l'Alleud and Herstal in Belgium. Twenty-one delivery trucks then transport more than 3,500 packages each night from these two sites to the 95 dealers in Belgium.
GEFCO Austria is now preparing the Peugeot RCZ at the Graz manufacturing plant and distributing it throughout Europe. GEFCO also provides customs and tax representation services.
Each day, 85 cars leave the production site, making an annual volume of 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles for GEFCO Austria to prepare and deliver.
GEFCO Germany has signed a new contract with Adam Opel, covering the transport of full loads from French suppliers to the four German production sites at Rüsselsheim, Bochum, Eisenach and Kaiserslautern, as well as to the Belgian plant in Antwerp.
Operations are overseen from Mörfelden-Walldorf, but the regional sites manage the orders locally. GEFCO Groß-Gerau supplies the Rüsselsheim and Kaiserslautern plants, GEFCO Leipzig provides the transport to Eisenach and GEFCO Wuppertal to Bochum and Antwerp.
GEFCO also handles the return and treatment of empty packaging.
In other news, GEFCO's sites at Leipzig and Hamburg recently obtained Safety & Quality Assessment System (SQAS) certification, a European standard managed by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) to evaluate the safety, quality, security and environmental performance of transport services - all factors that are becoming increasingly critical in the handling of chemicals.
GEFCO Germany now has five SQAS-certified sites: in Berlin, Groß-Gerau, Hamburg, Leipzig and Wuppertal.
