Odessa port’s cargo turnover in 2010 is down 11.8% to 24,7m tons

Cargo throughput of SE Odessa Commercial Sea Port (OCSP, Ukraine) in 2010 decreased by 11.8% compared to 2009, to 24,7 million tons. Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 13,165 million tons, liquid cargo volume – 11,535,000 tons, container traffic amounted to 351,600 TEUs, or 3.91 million tons.

Discounts on handling transit cargo at the port of Odessa are effective January 2011. In accordance with the order of the Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine Odessa port introduces a 30 percent discount on handling of certain categories of goods, in particular, ferrous metals, iron, iron ore, grains and cereals, raw sugar.

State-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov Basin. The OCSP’s facilities allow handling annually over 14 million tons of dry cargo and 14 million tons of liquid bulk cargo. In 2009, OCSP’s cargo throughput shrank by 19% YOY, to 28.007 million tons.
