Vanino Port’s cargo throughput grows 0.2% to over 6m tons

Freight turnover of Vanino Commercial Sea Port JSC amounted in 2010 to 6,011,900 tons, up 0.2% from 2009’s figure, the stevedoring company’s press service said. In Oct-Dec, 2010 Vanino Port handled 1,371,100 tons of cargo, including 434,500 tons - in December.

In the 12-month period imports flow via the VCSP’s terminals grew by 7.7% to 1,270.6 tons, including 1,221,700 tons of alumina and 33,900 tons of petroleum coke.
Exports handled by the stevedore shrank by 11.7%, timber cargo volume fell to 1,160,900 tons, ferrous and nonferrous metals - to 131,800 tons and 27,100 tons, respectively. In 2010, the company handled 1,315,300 tons of export coal, 9.1% more than a year earlier, 512,300 tons (+ 27.3%) of coastal trade volume, 1,577,000 tons of cargo (+11.6%) carried by Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service. The port's container throughput the reporting period amounted to 12,000 TEUs. In 2010 Vanino Port handled 1,398 vessels, including 705 ferries.

Vanino Commercial Sea Port JSC is the largest stevedore operating at the Russian sea port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The company handles cargoes transported to the north-eastern regions of Russia and enables imports/exports flow to/fromJapan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. The Port of Vanino’s quay wall is some 2.5-km long. Vanino Port has three specialized berths equipped with handling facilities. Russian Government holds through Federal Agency for Property Management a 73,33-percent stake in Port of Vanino JSC.
