Deputy Harbormaster of Big Port of St.Pb dies at 64

Alexander F. Glukhov, Head of Navigation Safety, First Deputy Harbormaster of the seaport ‘Big Port of St. Petersburg passed away on 16 January 2011 at the age of 64, the Port Authority press release said.

Mr. Glukhov graduated from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy Marine College and the Leningrad Higher Marine Engineering College of Adm. Makarov, majoring in navigation.

In 1996, A. Glukhov joined the Port Authority of the Big Port of St. Petersburg starting his career as deputy to harbormaster of the port, then – harbormaster of the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg, the first deputy harbormaster of the seaport Big Port of St. Petersburg in charge of safety of navigation department of the state-owned enterprise. According to the PA, Mr. Glukhov has made a significant contribution to the development and sustainability of the transport sector of Russia.

“We deeply mourn the irreparable loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to relatives of the deceased,” the Port Authority statement said.
