Port of Nakhodka’s cargo throughput down by 2.6% to 15,32m tons

Freight flows through the port of Nakhodka for 2010 totaled 15,32 million tons, a 2.6 percent decline from the 2009’s figure, PortNews reports citing the Nakhodka Port Authority’s statistics.

In the calendar year 2010, handling of hard coal rose by 18.6% to 2.34 million tons, of ore and fluxes slumped by nearly 3 times year-over-year, to 74,000 tons. Shipment of timber cargo jumped by 39% from a year earlier, to 433,000 tons, the volume of ferrous metals was down by 18.6% y-o-y, to 4.05 million tons. Transshipment of nonferrous metals rose 11.3% to 354,700 tons.
 
There was a 64-percent surge in handling scrap metal - to 183,700 tons, exports of petroleum products increased by 0.6%, to 6,96 million tons. The port's container throughput plunged by more than 4 times, to 1,990 TEUs.

Russian Port of Nakhodka is located in the northern Bay of Nakhodka. The year-round navigable Port is connected via Trans-Siberian Railroad with the network of Russian and Western Europe’s railroads. In 2009, trade flows passing through Nakhodka Port rose by 3.3% to 15,698 million tons.
