Sea Port of St. Pb Group posts 5% gain in 2010 to over 12m tons
Total cargo throughput of stevedoring assets of Sea Port of St. Petersburg Group in 2010 amounted to more than 12,1 million tons, up 5% over the same period of 2009, the Group’s press office said.
In the reporting period, exports volume rose by 5% to 10,3 million tons, handling of imported goods increased by 6% to 1,8 million tons. The volume handled by the Group’s stevedores includes largely bulk cargo - 5.3 million tons (+7% yoy), as well as general cargo - 6.7 million tons (+7%).
First Stevedore Company (FSC) handled about 4.9 million tons of cargo, a 3-percent growth from 2009's figures. In particular, shipments of Ro-Ro cargoes through FSC’s Ro-Ro terminal, commissioned in Q2, 2009, amounted to more than 711,000 tons.
Second Stevedoring Company transshipped over 1.9 million tons (+7% y-o-y).
Imports of cars through the terminal of Third Stevedoring Company in 2010 totaled 14,900 units. In 2009 the terminal did not operate.
Fourth Stevedoring Company’s operational results showed a 13-percent decrease, to 3,1 million tons. The decline was primarily due to the upgrade of the company’s container terminal.
Ust-Luga port’s Universal Transshipment Complex demonstrated a 47% surge in 2010, handling about 2.2 million tons of cargo.
