Port of Hong Kong’s container throughput up 11.8% to 23,53m TEUs

Container trade of the port of Hong Kong (China) in the calendar year 2010 increased by 11.8% compared with 2009’s figures, to 23,53 million TEUs, the Port Authority statistics said.
 
In December, container traffic rose by 4% year-over-year, to 1,97 million TEUs.

Container volume handled at the largest terminal  Kwai Chung increased by 12.8% to 17 million TEUs.

Port of Hong Kong is one of the largest ports in the world. In 2009, Hong Kong port's container traffic shrank by 14.6% yoy, to 20,9 million TEUs. The port’s capacity is 456,000 ship calls a year.
