Andrei Birov told about Silport’s plans for 2011 saying a new company to start operating this summer but did not name the operator. Besides, the port expects the construction of a parking lot for trucks carrying goods to Russia to be completed in the summer. The Port Authority has not found yet, Mr. Birov said, a company that would operate the port’s container terminal. In general, he said, the global economy is recovering giving hope that the port will have more jobs.
JSC SILPORT is a joint Russian-Estonian company. In 2009 imports/exports flow through the port’s terminals rose as much as 1.5 times year-over-year, to 2,5m tons.
