Samsung will build third LNG tank at new Singapore terminal
Samsung C&T Corporation will build a third LNG storage tank at the new LNG terminal under construction in Singapore. Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG), developer and owner of the terminal, awarded the contract for the engineering, procurement and construction to the South Korean firm. The third 188,000 cu m tank is addition to two similar sized tanks that are being built. The terminal's storage capacity will be up to 6m tonnes per annum of throughput with the three tanks. Total LNG storage capacity at the terminal will increase to 540,000 cu m. A larger capacity at the LNG terminal is expected to boost trading activities of LNG cargoes to meet the needs of this growing market in Asia, according to Neil McGregor, ceo of SLNG. Work on the LNG terminal including the first two tanks is progressing with about 25% of the overall initial project completed, including 10% of the works on site.
