TCSP posts for 2010 a 4% gain, over 1,3m tons

Cargo throughput of Taganrog Commercial Seaport JSC (Taganrog CSP) in 2010 rose by 4% compared to 2009’s figures to more than 1,3 million tons, the company's press service reported.

From January through December 31, 2010 the operator handled 856,000 tons of bulk cargo, 342,000 tons of liquid bulk and 138,000 tons of general cargo. Container throughput in the reporting period increased by 37% year-over-year to 14,000 TEUs. The volume of coal remained at 2009’s level, reaching 788,000 tons. Transshipment of ore surged by three times, to about 27,000 tons. The volume of round timber increased by 58% - up to 19,000 tons.
In the reporting period there was a 10-percent decline in the segment of grain cargoes, to 36,000 tons. Handling of metals slumped by 84% to 6.5 million tons, versus 43,000 tons a year earlier. During 2010, the Taganrog stevedore company handled 19,059 railcars and 390 ships.

Taganrog Commercial Sea Port JSC is the major stevedore operating at the port of Taganrog. The company is part of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding. In 2009 freight volume handled by TCSP reached 1,280,000 tons.
