Ice restrictions for Sillamae, Kunda-bound vessels

Ice restrictions in the Gulf of Finland, effective Jan.28, 2011 are imposed for ships heading for the ports of Sillamae and Kunda (Estonia), the Sillmae Port Authority said. In connection with icebreaking activities in the Gulf the vessels entering or leaving these ports and to be escorted by icebreakers must have ice class 1C of Lloyd’s Register or similar ice class of other classification societies, as well as main engine power rated not below 1600 kW.

The Tarmo icebreaker operates at Hundipea Harbor in Tallinn Bay and provides transit of cargo ships in the area. The icebreaker will not escort ATBs.
