    Meyer Werft to build LNG tanker for Anthony Veder

    The Dutch shipping company ANTHONY VEDER (Rotterdam) placed and order for a new LNG carrier at MEYER WERFT. The tanker is scheduled for delivery in late 2012, the shipping company's press release said.

    The ship specifications: LOA - 156 m, beam - 22.70 m, cargo capacity - 15,600 cbm. The modern vessel will be powered by low emission LNG fuel and will comply with the highest environmental standards.

    MEYER WERFT's sister company, NEPTUN WERFT in Rostock-Warnemünde, will be highly involved in the construction and outfitting of this new LNG carrier. The contract will ensure jobs for the Papenburg-based shipyard up to 2012, the company said.

    ANTHONY VEDER GROUP NV, established in 1937, operates a fleet of 21 gas tankers. The company newbuilds program includes 4 vessels.

    The company specializes on transportation of LPG, petrochemical gases, CO2 and LNG. The company also focuses on further expansion of the small scale LNG market.

    MEYER WERFT GmbH in Papenburg owned by the Meyer family was founded in 1795.
    MEYER WERFT specializes in the construction of special-purpose ships, primarily huge, modern and highly sophisticated cruise vessels.
