Ust-Luga Yug-2 Terminal sees vehicle imports growth this year

Cars throughput of Yug-2, a multipurpose transshipment complex (MTC) at the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) is projected to increase year-over-year by nearly 2.5 times to 150,000 -160,000 vehicles in 2011, said Maxim Shirokov, CEO of Ust-Luga Company (ULC is the port’s customer and developer).

As the Board Chairman Valery Izraylit said the final phase of Yug-2 completion is scheduled for 2012.

The multipurpose terminal Yug-2 is designed for handling Ro-Ro cargoes, including new imported cars, containers and general cargo. To date, Yug-2 terminal handles vehicles of the following car makers, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Subaru. In 2010 car imports through the port of Ust-Luga totaled 65,500 cars, a 3.8 times growth over 2009’s figures.
