Tuapse Port’s cargo throughput unchanged, at 18,5m tons
The volume of cargo handled by Tuapse Sea Commercial Port JSC (TMTP) in 2010 remained at the level of 2009, when TMTP transshipped 18.5 million tons, the stevedore company’s press service said.
The volume of imports during the period surged 3 times as much from 2009’s figures (509,400 tons) thanks to an increase in dry bulk cargoes, particularly raw sugar, which soared 60% to 440,000 tons.
A terminal, commissioned in late 2010 and designed for imported perishable goods, handled over 50,000 tons.
During the reporting period, exports slightly fell to 18 million tons (-1% year-over-year). The bulk of exports were coal - 3.3 million tons (+10%) and petroleum products - 14.1 million tons (2009’s level).
Grain terminal, launched in early February 2010, transshipped more than 530,000 tons of exported grain.
From Jan through Dec 31, 2010, the stevedore handled 66,900 railcars and 1,185 ships.
