VSC’s terminal handles Poland-bound transit boxes

First transit 40-foot containers transported by the MCP Copenhagen from S.Korean Busan port to Poland were handled at a container terminal of Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC) located at Port Vostochny, the company’s press office said.

The first containers have been shipped from Vostochny port’s railway station to the Brest railroad station. Then the containers will proceed to the Poloand’s Slavkov (Austerlitz) station.  The cargo handling at the terminal of VSC, including customs clearance procedures, took 58 hours, VSC said.

"Previously, the transits made up 1/3 of cargo volume handled at the container terminal of Vostochny port, but after 2006 the port nearly lost the transit flows. Today, we are working hard to get back the transit traffic to VSC and the Trans-Siberian Railroad that are able to provide a quality of transportation of large volumes of transit cargo. We have prepared for a significant freight flow growth in this direction, " says John Scourtis, General Director of VSC LLC.

Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC is the largest container terminal in the Russian Far East, operating at Vostochny Port. The company is majority owned by Global Ports Group (75%) and DPW holds 25%.

Global Ports (GPI) is a group of companies, comprising the leading Russian container terminals operators. GPI is part N-Trance Group, the largest private operator on the transportation market in Russia, CIS and the Baltic countries.
