The world's largest container line said it will temporarily stop accepting shipments to Ivory Coast from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and the West Coast of South America.
The halt on shipments to Ivory Coast applies to the ports of Abidjan and San Pedro.
“There has been no plan by Maersk Line to cease acceptance for cargo leaving the Ivory Coast,” said Mary Ann Kotlarich, a spokesperson for Maersk Line in the U.S.
She said Maersk is temporarily suspending shipments from the Americas to Ivory Coast because of European Union regulations “imposing certain specific restrictive measures directed against certain persons and entities in view of the situation in Ivory Coast.”
