Port of Long Beach terminal was evacuated early Friday morning after cargo handlers discovered a container with a message suggesting a bomb was inside, authorities said, Los Angeles Times reports.
The container from overseas was being offloaded at Terminal 94 when the message was discovered on its exterior about 1:30 a.m.
Long Beach police and port security responded to the scene and evacuated the immediate area.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad determined the container did not contain any explosives or hazardous materials.
The port terminal had resumed normal operations by dawn Friday morning, officials said.
