Hamburg Sud raises bunker surcharges

Hamburg Sud will increase its bunker adjustment factor as of Oct. 1 for all cargo moving from U.S. and Canada to Europe and the Mediterranean, Journal of Commerce reports.The German carrier said Tuesday it will raise the BAF to $392 from $346 per 20-foot container, and to $784 from $692 per 40-foot container.
It said tariff cargo, along with existing service contracts, will be subject to this charge.
Hamburg Sud will continue to monitor bunker fuel prices on a quarterly basis and adjust the BAF as necessary after appropriate notice.
