APL sets India-Mediterranean peak surcharge

Singapore-based container carrier APL is imposing peak-season surcharges on all cargo shipped from India to East/West Mediterranean, starting Sept. 1, the Journal of Commerce reports.

The proposed surcharge on shipments moving to East Mediterranean destinations will be $150 per 20-foot and $300 per 40-foot/45-foot high cube container.

Cargo destined for West Mediterranean will have surcharges of $200 per 20-foot and $400 per 40-foot/45-foot high cube container.

APL India said the surcharges will apply to both dry and refrigerated cargo.
