Kaliningrad Customs thwarted a attempt to evade customs duties while clearing an oil tanker crossing the Customs Union border, the North-West Customs Directorate said.
The consignee underrated in their documents the 4000dwt ship, evaluated by the customs experts at RUB 35 million.
As the customs officers revealed, this early August the director of a Kaliningrad-based company submitted fake shipping documents (invoice, specification, contract) for the tanker to move the ship across the CU’s border and evade customs fees payment.
The Kaliningrad Customs opened a smuggling and tax evasion case. The tanker was arrested, the investigation is underway.
