Guangxi provincial port throughput hits 100m tonnes in first half
SOUTH China's Guangxi recorded a 130 per cent growth in port throughput to 107 million tonnes in the first half of the year, Xinhua reports.
Its Beibu Gulf ports moved 70.09 million tonnes of cargo with a 131 per cent increase over last year, hitting a record high. Inland river ports handled 37.39 million tonnes, rising 128 per cent year on year.
Although Guangxi enjoyed a surge in throughput, cargo piled up at Beibu Gulf port area and reached more than 10 million tonnes because of a sudden increase in foreign trade and a shortage of rail capacity.
