Port of Aktau posts a 6.3% throughput decline to 8.03 m tons
Freight flows passing through Kazakhstan-based Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Port of Aktau) in January-August of this year decreased by 6.3% year-on-year, to 8,028,100 tons, the state-owned company said.
Eight-month volume of crude oil and petroleum products totaled 5,554 thousand tons, of dry cargo - 1,576,300 tons, including metal - 1,255,100 tons, other cargo – 220,700 tons, of grain – 100,400 tons. Ferry traffic reached 897,900 tons.
During the period the port saw 1395 ship calls.
In August, the company handled 976,600 tons of dry and oil cargoes, including – 608,900 tons of oil products, 194,500 tons of metal, 117,700 tons of cargo carried by ferries, 26.1 thousand tons of grain and 29.4 tons of other goods. Last month, there were 168 calls.
The Republican State Enterprise "Aktau International Sea Commercial Port” (Port of Aktau), located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, is the premier port of Kazakhstan. The port is a gateway for international trade flows passing through the country. The Aktau port’s terminals handle a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products. In 2010, the Aktau Port’s cargo throughput rose by 26.7% year-over-year, to 13.9m tons.
