IFB expands connections between Rotterdam and Antwerp
On 5 September 2011 IFB will add the RSC Rotterdam terminal to its direct connections between Rotterdam and Antwerp, IFB reports.
The pan-European inter-modal operator is accordingly expanding its portfolio with a connection that specifically targets continental and short-sea traffic from Rotterdam. The current offer on the Rotterdam-Antwerp axis remains unaltered, with scheduled service three times a week between Antwerp Mainhub and Rotterdam Maasvlakte via the ECT Delta and Euromax Terminal.
By providing this connection Rotterdam can now offer continental transport access to South and South-East Europe, a region which is insufficiently serviced at present. The sole direct connection for such traffic can mean substantial time savings and efficiency improvements, as IFB provides a direct connection to destinations in France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Turkey[1].
Steve Declercq, Business Unit North Manager: “IFB is keen to capitalise fully on the strength of its pan-European network so as to provide even better service to its customers. We observe a robust increase in demand for cross-border transport. In integrating RSC in our offer, we are addressing the needs of continental forwarders who want direct access to our European network from Rotterdam.”
Cor Hoenders, President of RSC: “RSC is delighted with the renewed cooperation with IFB, because we can now provide our customers direct access to the Port of Antwerp and thus a seamless connection to IFB’s South and South-East European network.”
Kees Van Altena, IFB Business Development Manager, is in charge of marketing this offer.
Inter Ferry Boats nv/sa is a neutral pan-European intermodal and terminal operator. The company headquarters are based in Antwerp, but it has operational and commercial organisations in 11 European countries, such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Turkey. IFB has been providing reliable multimodal solutions for container transport, at home and abroad, by rail and barge, for more than ten years. The company provides intermodal transport on its European quality rail network, but also manages various freight handling terminals in Belgium, Germany and France. It has, amongst others, developed the successful National Rail Container Network (Narcon), a daily link via rail, terminal and truck between the ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge and the rest of the continent. H&S Container Line is a subsidiary of IFB, offering intermodal barge services between the North Sea ports and the economic hubs of the Rhine area.
